Purpose of position

The AEGIS Spatial Repellent (SR) Study, seeks to hire a study coordinator to oversee all field activities of the study in Yumbe district, including; sensitization and engagement of all relevant stakeholders at the district and in the refugee settlement; development of SOPs, study forms and logs; recruitment and oversight of field study staff and operations; planning and implementation of all data collection activities, including informed consent, study participant enrolment and follow up, installation of SR in households, review of study forms and logs, sample storage, transportation and management in collaboration with the study investigators. The study coordinator, will also take responsibility for QA/QC activities in the field, including data cleaning in collaboration with the data management team and investigators, and will ensure that regular progress updates are shared with the investigators and other collaborators; participating in meetings, report writing and presentations as needed. 

 Key Result Areas/Outputs

·         Development of SOPs, logs and forms to guide study activities

·         Completion of study enrolment and follow up in all study clusters

·         Provision of accurately completed study forms and logs for all participants

·         Provision of a clean data set for analysis, at the end of the study period

·         Participation in all relevant study meetings

Qualification Required

Qualifications and other desirables for the job:

1.      A Bachelors’ degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) and an up to date practicing licence from UMDPC, A Masters’ degree in Public Health or related field is an added advantage, Evidence of GCP and HSP training, experience conducting research in malaria or other infectious diseases.

2.      At least 2-3 year of prior experience managing research projects, preferably multisite research projects, including budget management, team management, oversight of field-based activities across Uganda

3.      Experience managing multi-site projects and data collections

4.      Experience with Microsoft Office applications with proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint; and web-based applications including Zoom.

5.      Experience and ability to independently represent the research team and PIs at meetings, and with internal and external stakeholders

6.      Evidence of GCP and HSP training

7.      Excellent written and oral communications skills

8.      Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills

9.      Ability to work under stringent deadlines and to work independently
